The E-Card
E-Card is a small application intended to work as a common business card, i.e. to exchange personal informations. With version 2.0, E-Card becomes a more efficient utility, though maintaing its primary target: requiring few seconds to be sent via modem in compressed form (with popular tools like Stuffit Deluxe or Compact Pro).
A colorful 3D bar has been added and a small icon preview is now available with each E-Card. The software is capable of running in the backgroung to let the user copy informations without necessarily quitting the application. A save-as-text option is available for those who want to edit or print informations using word processors (SimpleText is the default creator for exported documents).
E-Press™: the new application to create E-Cards
Slowly improving programming skills have brought E-Press™ to the Mac sofware world, ‘killing’ previous similar utilities such as the E-Card™ Editor and the E-Card™ Maker. Seven dialogs are now necessary to create a single E-Card, each providing specific options for the user. Error-checking is possible with proper navigation buttons.
Repetitive tasks such as creating your own E-Card very often can be speed up by checking the ‘Use last E-Card as default’ option in the Preferences dialog. File size can be reduced by disabling the ‘Install color resources’, though this option has little or no effect if the E-Card is later compressed (thanks to powerful compression algorithms).
The ‘Layout’ menu in the Preferences dialog is available for those countries (as Italy), which are not part of a bigger country or federation.
Since it was too difficult and way too boring to implement, there’s no built-in 'cicn' editor into E-Press. If you want to change picture previews use any shareware editor or Apple’s ResEdit.

I had only few of the IM volumes to consult as it’s really difficult to get them here, no technical assistance (APDA seems to be very expensive in Italy), and no people who could teach me something seriously. Maybe E-Card and E-Press are not programming jewels, but I spent many hours on them and I’d be really happy to know how much I learnt after seventeen years of life.
